This is what happens when you have too big of a floating tip on a floating body. This is a Rio Scandi Versitip body #8 with a #7 Skagit floating tip- the tip of the Scandi body is very light compared to the overweight tip on the line. The results? The energy isn’t transferred properly into the tip and it creates a hinge affect, resulting in the tip flopping over and shock waves in the line. Its still fairly effective for fishing if you can get it out there, but when the tip stands up like this one is it will not perform properly in the wind. Instead of a sexy loop, you get fugly. Watch in super slow motion for the full affect.
